They serve Chinese dishes in a way that's pretty similar to how restaurants in China do, in terms of the presentation and dishes offered. Nothing special, though. Food was all good, but nothing was amazing or compared to some other restaurants in Cupertino or Milpitas. (except maybe the mango pudding at the end). Also, I happened to come on a day when someone reserved half the restaurant for their baby's first birthday, and their terrible (!!) karoake-skills basically ruined the atmosphere... sigh.

We recently had our son's wedding reception at Dynasty. Some good things: incredible seabass---truly the best fish I have ever tasted. Lots of room for dancing, mingling and eating. Plenty of food. Things that need improvement: the interface between the kitchen and the clients. These guys were kind of hard to deal with and not very customer-service oriented. Even with a reception coordinator who speaks Mandarin the food came late because they were waiting for the her to sign a piece of paper that she knew nothing about before they started cooking! The servers made the bride do translating for them with non-Chinese guests. And there was just a sense of being hustled about rather than served. This was in contrast to our rehearsal dinner restaurant where the staff treated us like family. If you're looking for a big Chinese banquet in an environment that's conveniently set up, Dynasty could still work----just don't expect a high-touch evnvironment.

I think this place is okay. We came here for lunch during the weeday for dim sum. THe selection was just okay, the haw gow, buns, taro, steam rice. There was no duck, but they do have another menu you can order as well. We had the lobster noodles which is great. It was not much selection compared to what I am used too. I like the one near my end better in south San Jose. The food was good, but not the first place I go too.

Because my friends and I were all craving dim sum the night before, we all met up for lunch the morning after. DCSR was the closest. The wait at DCSR wasn't bad for it being Saturday and around lunch time too. 7 people and only 25 minute wait! The food here was mediocre. It wasn't particularly amazing nor did was it disgusting. But the service? The cart ladies were soooo pushy, and super persistent! To the point where I felt that if we weren't paying attention to them, they were going to put dishes on our table (& charge us) without our consent! We had to say no at least three times per cart. Thank you, but no means no mam(s)! We also found it difficult when trying to order specific dishes; the staff all seem to speak Mandarin. (Where are all the Canto speakers?! Probably SF&Millbrae..)Overall. A-OK food with service you would expect at a dimsum place.

I had given Dynasty three and four stars in my previous reviews but have reduced the rating to one because of their poor service.I have been to many Chinese restaurants so I know what to expect on a busy Sunday but our experience was over the top during the last visit. I didn't expect to be pampered or be smiled at. However, first off, yesterday the dim sum carts all went in the same direction when coming out the kitchen. At one point there were 6 or 7 carts jammed together around 3 or 4 tables at one end of the restaurant. Dynasty has been in business long enough to know (or should have known) how to do a better job controlling the flow of dim sum carts; that is, 1/2 of the carts should move clockwise and the other half in the opposed direction to provide equal coverage for customers in both ends of the dining hall. It goes without saying (or I wouldn't have complained) our end of the room was the last stop for those carts. In most cases, the dishes we wanted had been taken or the carts were just empty by the time the carts reached us, if they did at all.We talked to our waitress about not getting the carts in our area but she said "you wait, they will come". After waiting for a long time, I asked her to get the dishes from the carts stuck in the traffic jam. She told me to go to the carts myself. I asked her why she wouldn't do it. She said she was disallowed to do that and there was nothing she could do about the way how the carts traveled. Interestingly, I had had other servers at Dynasty getting food from the carts for me many time before. In fact, they preferred that customers stayed at their table so they wouldn't get into the cart pushers' way. And that makes very good sense for safety reasons. The same goes with other Chinese restaurants. I told the waitress her response was not acceptable and I asked to talk to her manager. She said the manager was too busy to get hold of and "poor me" (meaning her), there wasn't anything she could do. She wasn't rude but the message was loud and clear - "take it or leave it". At my insistence, she finally reluctantly went to the kitchen but came back saying that we had to wait for 20 minutes for our dishes. I got the vibe that she wanted us to become impatient so she picked a ridiculously long time to make us think it wasn't worth the trouble. And my hunch was later proved to be spot on. I told her 20 minutes would be fine as long as the dishes were delivered then. Luckily as I was stonewalled by this waitress, a manager walked by. I explained to the manager what I asked the waitress to do and my goal of finishing our meal so that they could seat other waiting customers. The manager understood clearly my point and took the waitress aside. After a brief conference between the two, miraculously within seconds the requested dishes were delivered to our table. It didn't take 20 minutes as the waitress had claimed. Other hungry tables nearby also got some long waited/desired special delivery items :-(Well, it was a "happy" ending but took a manager to make it happen. Overall the food was good. I will go back. Actually we have been to Dynasty at least once a month. If their food stays good and service improves I will rate Dynasty higher then. But not after yesterday's visit.

But the seafood is fantastic in my opinion. We had all the classics. The Shark fin soup, Crab claws, Peking Duck, Lobster, yummy vegetables! This place is awesome for private/special events. They have the main dining room, and then 10 private rooms, and then probably like 2 -3 more banquet rooms where they can host full wedding receptions. We had a Chinese New Years dinner. We ordered several dishes, and about a third of them came out wrong, and the waiter did not even call in our Peking Duck dish; we had to order it after we finished our meal.I ordered take out for my girlfriend, who was home tending a cold. I ordered wonton soup and salt/pepper shrimp. Besides the crazy high price ($37!), they did not give me salt/pepper shrimp. The private room was way cleaner than your typical Chinese place too.If you want a selection of dishes to happily satisfy both American and authentic Chinese palates, I recommend what we ordered:BBQ Roast Pork appetizer platter - flavorful porkSauteed Scallop and Chinese Vegetables - I was very pleasantly surprised by the scallops...big, tender, not fishy...the last characteristic is the downfall of many a scallop dishPeking Duck - this high-end dish is always a crowd pleaser....the duck here was solidHouse Special Sauteed Filet Mignon - a little sweet and people could not get enough of thisBamboo pith with Chinese greens - Bamboo pith (not the shoots but the spongey-tender inside) is a special treat, you don't normally come across itChef Special Pan Fried Pork Chops - super tender and flavorfulSmoked Chilean Sea Bass - smoky, lightly sweet, super flaky, and not too fishy...there's a reason why it's expensiveBraised E-fu noodle with mushroom & yellow chive - my favorite noodle dish, better than chow fun, low mein, chow mein - not as greasy and the noodles themselves have nice delicate flavor due to braising. Yellow chive is prized for its milder flavor vs green chiveWe also had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and been to a couple weddings, it really is the best Chinese restaurant in the South Bay for events.Note that you don't have to totally go with their set menus, we've always customized it a little bit - it does cost extra.

Dynasty understands good Chinese food. But not good portion sizes. We came to Dynasty for my wife's company's holiday party. For a company run by older Chinese people, they sure know how to party! The restaurant is huge - the banquet hall was past the main restaurant, and past a hallway filled with private rooms on both sides. The banquet hall easily accommodated some 300 people, had classy decor like crystal chandeliers, and had a reasonably-sized dance floor. I knew it would be a fun night when the MC announced that the boss would be dancing Gangnam Style later in the night. Here's what we had, and it was all quite tasty:Cold plate appetizer with seaweed and pork - the pork was nicely flavoredShark fin soup - flavorful meat and brothFried crab ball - yum, unfortunately we got shortchanged at 9 crab balls for 10 peopleSauteed shrimp and scallops with vegetables - the shrimp was flavorful, but the dish was otherwise not too memorableSauteed bok choy and mushrooms - goodLobster - tasty and all the pieces were sufficiently cracked, but the meat was a little flaky and hard to dig outPeking duck - mostly dark meat, tastyPork fried rice with mini shrimp - closer to sticky rice, very consistent flavor and deliciousRed bean soup (dessert) - just the right amount of sweetnessUnfortunately, the portion sizes were a bit small. Most of the tables, like ours, were fairly large and seated 10 people comfortably. So I expected the plates of food to be pretty large to match. But some of the dishes were only big enough for each person to get one modest helping. Both my wife and I left hungry, which for my case is understandable since I eat like a pig. But she eats more like a hamster, so the fact that she didn't get full was surprising.Boo Dynasty for making us like your food and then not giving us enough!

Do not come here.I'm not dim sum fan and I can even go as far as to say I don't even really like dim sum that much, but I can tell you that this place does not have any kind of special dimsum that is better than any other place in the area.My real problem with this place is the service. We came here with 7 adults and 1 child and as we finished our meal we handed one of the suits a passport card to get 20% off our meal. As he walked away he counted how many people we had at our table and said we have too many people and we told him we have another passport card and that if it was really a problem he could split our check (passport says max 6 people for the discount). After he handed back our first card and not even taking the second card he said "too bad, you should have told us before or you should have sat seperately." and immediately walked away. Too bad? Should have split up our table? Wow... I would have been fine if he didn't take the card but there was no reason to be a jerk about it. I understand rude asian service and I come to accept it but this really ruined my mood. I also would expect better customer service where they have their employees dressed in suits.I'm done with this place. I've been here two times too many (I've been here twice). I've never had a good experience. Or maybe next time I'll come here with everyone that I know that has a Passport card and get tables for 1.

Come to Dynasty for shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, chicken feet, BBQ pork bun, and other traditional dim sum treats. It is reliable and normally not a crazy wait. I'm pretty sure the bad reviews were written by people who don't normally eat at Chinese restaurants. (Chinese servers are naturally rude, that's just how they are!)Best dim sum ever, all my family reunions are always held here because there is such a fantastic selection of small plates. Everything is always still steaming warm when it arrives at the table (not true of many dim sum places in the Bay Area). Also the regular entrees are pretty good-- I'm personally a fan of the lobster e-noodle. The dim sum and entrees are a little pricier than other Chinese restaurants, but I really think you get what you pay for here. It's a huge venue and I've been to engagement parties, birthday parties, etc. here and it seems pretty accomodating. They have separate seating halls as well as private rooms that are really soundproof (it's a huge Chinese restaurant so it can get pretty loud during the peak meal times).Wait times can be long, and I think they only take reservations for large parties. It's definitely worth the wait, but the space is absolutely ideal for events.

I can't really name all the dishes we get but it's usually: chicken feet, dumplings, something with tofu, Chinese donuts, shrimp dumplings, deep fried ground meat chewy stuff...again these aren't the technical names but just how my hapa brain remembers them to be.Either way look at the pictures and you'll get an idea that the portions are big and everything tastes standard. Nothing here is really special in terms of dim sum, I haven't been here for dinner yet though so that can be a whole other experience. Went here for a wedding last weekend. Banquet style food when it's done right is quite delicious. I was not terribly pleased with the shark fin soup - it was too salty, but it did have lots of fancy things in it, including bamboo pith and lobster, which my dad would have loved.Otherwise, it was the usual banquet fare, except for the fish dish. I am not normally a fan of sea bass (in fact, I tend to stay far away from it) but like all things in life, (or perhaps just mine), there are always exceptions, and the smoked sea bass at Dynasty is one of them. Tender and flaky without being overly fatty, very flavorful (in the umami sense), and generous portions. If there is anything I enjoy more than good food, it's having someone prove me wrong about what suits my palate.

I did not come here for Dim Sum but for a nice dinner. It is a large restaurant with 2 banquet halls at both ends and many VIP rooms. It is located in a mall.We have roasted pig which is crispy. Next comes the shark fin. Yes shark fin. Although it is already banned, the restaurant may still have the inventory. Then comes the coral shrimp which is very big about 6 to 8 inches long deep fried. It is so tasty that even the shell can be consumed. The elephant clam is fresh and not chewy. The sea cucumber is slimy but is good for health. The fish is a grouper which is very thick in its meat. The texture is not as tough as normal grouper and it is done just right. The crab is also deep fried with its meat fried with egg white. Last comes the special abalone rice with a creamy sauce. I am by then very full but since it is so good that I manages to finish it all. There are 3 desserts, the fruit plate is very skillfully cut and presented. The room is equipped with karaoke but no one is testing their voices as they are all busy with the food. It is a fun night, with good food that will stay in memory.

This place holds me over when I want a dim sum fix the way Ike's Place in Cupertino holds off my hankering for a proper Ike's Sandwich (from the Castro).Service is your typical Chinese place - servers/waiters looked rushed, most of the time you have to flag someone down if you want something, and they give that feeling like they're doing you a favor by putting in any orders to the kitchen. Hehe. Our staple orders include har gow, spinach and shrimp dumpling, char siu bao, a small plate of pan fried noodles, and shu mai. All are good.
